Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has reaffirmed that nationwide demonstrations will go on as planned, beginning at 7:00 a.m., even before court proceedings commence.

Speaking during an interview on TVC News, Sowore addressed questions regarding a possible restriction order placed on the planned protests. He stated that his legal team would respond appropriately once officially served by the authorities, but maintained that the demonstrations would not be halted.

“But demonstrations are starting even before courts open anyways, at 7:00 a.m.,” Sowore said. “Maybe by then the police would have served us. We’ll take a look, but we don’t want to pretend that we’re unaware.”
