Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy has warned pastors around the world against encouraging what he described as a growing culture of celebrity gospel singers moving from one church to another in pursuit of fame and public attention.

Speaking from 05:18 during a recent teaching session shared on YouTube, Oyakhilome expressed concern over the increasing influence of travelling gospel artistes and worship leaders who, according to him, lack commitment to local church structures and spiritual growth.

The cleric argued that many of such singers prioritize popularity over ministry, noting that they often leave immediately after performances to attend events in other churches instead of remaining rooted in fellowship and biblical teaching.

Oyakhilome questioned why pastors would tolerate such practices within their congregations, comparing it to ordinary church members abandoning their assemblies every Sunday.

Oyakhilome maintained that God designed the church around committed service and spiritual development rather than the promotion of “superstars” within Christian worship.

He warned that the entertainment mentality being introduced into church activities could weaken spiritual discipline and distort the true purpose of ministry.

“So what they couldn’t do in the world, they want to do in the house of God,” he said, describing the trend as unacceptable within the Christian faith.

He added that churches should encourage believers to serve and grow within their local assemblies instead of constantly chasing visibility and recognition elsewhere.

The pastor also advised church leaders to strengthen their choirs and internal worship teams rather than depending excessively on guest performers.
