Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State, has made strong accusations against his predecessor, Okezie Ikpeazu, regarding the handling of state funds, according to Arise TV reports.

In an exclusive interview with Arise News’s Rufai Oseni, Governor Otti addressed a building project initiated by Ikpeazu, stating, “My predecessor commissioned an uncontrolled building on the 28th of May. I would like you to see it. It is supposed to be a new government house. He completed the ground floor, finished very well, put Italian furniture, painted it and commissioned it. After the inauguration, I went there. When I looked at the ground floor I was very happy. As I went to the first and second floors they were not even layered. No sanitary fitting, That’s fraud.”

Otti explained his focus remains on governance rather than dwelling on past issues, saying, “You have only four years, and when you get into some of these distractive things, you lose focus. I have too much work to do.”

However, he highlighted a specific instance of concern: “We called in KPMG at some point, and they found that some 10 billion was withdrawn for a non-existent airport. That’s the only one we are saying bring back our money or give us the airport.”

The controversy surrounding the alleged misappropriation of N10 billion for a non-existent airport project has been ongoing, with Otti stating his priority is to recover the funds rather than pursue imprisonment.
