Samuel Nwanosike, a former Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government, has voiced his dissatisfaction with the local government election process in Rivers State. He alleged that the Chairman of the Rivers State Electoral Commission was compelled to announce the election results from the state government house.
Nwanosike pointed to the suspicious nature of the result announcement, particularly the abrupt halt in the collation process at the 23rd local government area. He also questioned the validity of the declared results, asking for clarity on the number of votes per ward and the identities of those who voted.
He said in an interview with TVC from 12:18, ‘You took the RSIEC chairman to the government house, and he started reading out the results. When he got to the 23rd local government, he said, ‘There’s a problem, and because of what’s happening, they couldn’t do the collation.‘ So, they said they would wait a little. Within the next 30 minutes or one hour, they announced that another political party had won. The question is, which results did they win on?
How many votes did they get per ward? This is an election that happens from polling unit to polling unit, so where are the ward results? Who were the people voting in the election? Remember, we have 23 local governments in Rivers State. You can’t just sit in front of someone’s compound, being guided by your soldiers, and claim that they have voted. Nigerians know the truth; there was no election.”….Sêe _ Morê
