The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has alleged that the minors arrested by the Nigerian Police were looting people’s shops and destroying public and private properties during the End Bad government protest. He stressed that allowing such behavior to go unchecked would be detrimental to societal progress.

He emphasized that the individuals detained were not legitimate protesters but rather criminals who took advantage of the protests to engage in destructive activities. He clarified that the police’s actions were not against peaceful demonstrators, but rather against those who used the chaos to commit serious offenses.

He said in a live coverage with Symfoni from 11:31, ‘Please help us correct this impression; the suspects were not #EndBadGovernance protesters, they were criminals that were arrested during that period of protest. Some of these arrested persons were captured on video committing arson; they were captured on video destroying public and private infrastructure. They were captured on video looting people’s shops and you want the police to look away and allow them to continue the destruction? No! The society will not progress like that.”
