Tunde Bank-Anthony, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, has stated that Mudashiru Obasa, the recently impeached speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has made it clear that he is not too small to become the governor of Lagos State.
While speaking in an interview with Channels TV from 17:50, Tunde Bank-Anthony stated that Obasa’s removal as speaker will give him more time to focus on his supposed governorship aspiration.
Obasa’s statements on the 2027 governorship race while Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presented the 2025 budget, made headlines in November. Obasa emphasized his readiness for the role, citing his extensive experience.
Bank-Anthony remarked that Obasa, being the longest-serving member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has demonstrated significant political capability. He expressed hope that the impeachment would not signal the end of his political journey, acknowledging his contributions to the assembly.
He said, “For him now, he can probably spend more time as Honorable Obasa who wants to be governor, to start spending and politicking on his ambition. Everybody knows and he said it himself clearly on the floor of the house. He (Mudashiru Obasa) made it very clear that he was not too small, nor incapable of becoming governor of Lagos state having been speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. I hope this does not retire him from politics, he has done so well. He is the oldest serving member of the House of Assembly.”
