A Nigerian Lawyer and APC Chieftain, Jesutega Onokpasa has alleged that he would only back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections if the president reevaluates his approach and shows respect for the party members who supported him in the 2023 election.

He expressed his frustration over the president’s decision of appointing individuals who have publicly insulted him during the 2023 election campaign. He argued that such appointments could be interpreted as endorsing the negative statements made about Tinubu. He emphasized that the president’s actions could be perceived as a slap in the face to those who have defended him, suggesting that such behavior could alienate loyal supporters.

He said in an interview with Arise TV from 9:03, ”I will only support President Tinubu in 2027 if he retraces his footsteps and if he respects our party members. Our president should stop this behavior of giving appointments to people who insulted us and people who called him a drug baron. Somebody keeps calling him a drug baron without evidence, and this is the same person that President Tinubu gives an appointment. What an insult! What is the president trying to say? Is he trying to justify the statement the person made? Then we were all defending you. If Mr. President continues on this trajectory of disrespecting our party members and treating us as if we are beggars, then he will lose our support.”
