Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called for greater investment in quality education across Northern Nigeria, with particular attention to children in Almajiri schools.

Speaking during an interview from 11:43 on ADVOCACY FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE on Monday, May 11, 2026, Obi emphasized the need for schools to be established across the region in order to expand educational opportunities for young people.

He stated that while many children in Almajiri schools are receiving Quranic education, they should also have access to formal academic subjects such as English, Mathematics, Physics, and other sciences.

According to Obi, integrating Islamic education with modern academic learning would better prepare young people with the knowledge and skills required for personal growth, economic empowerment, and national development.

Obi said,
