Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and legal practitioner has taken to his official X handle to recount how a foreign traditional ruler was installed in Anambra State. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he also disclosed that the traditional ruler was endorsed by governor Charles Soludo.
Many were left stunned after the installation of an Igbo traditional ruler in a South African community triggered unrest, with the people calling on the authorities to take urgent actions against them.
However, Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, disclosed how a foreign traditional ruler was installed in Anambra State.
According to his statements, he pointed out that in 2023, a Yoruba community in Awka, the capital of Anambra State installed a new traditional ruler, Oba Alhaji Abdul Olahan. The Oba, according to Chidi Odinkalu, was fondly called ‘Ezechinedu’.
Alhaji Abdul Olahan, according to Chidi Odinkalu, migrated to the state as a two-year-old boy with his mother. The traditional ruler, according to the respected activist, was endorsed by governor Charles Soludo and the people of Anambra State.
