Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, has reignited a debate over Peter Obi’s political reliability, citing a 2010 video where Obi vowed never to leave the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The video, resurfaced by former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri on X, shows Obi stating, “I swear to you I will never leave APGA. I will die in APGA,” a promise now contrasted with his recent alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and previous affiliations with the Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Onanuga’s reaction, posted on X on Monday, August 4, 2025, asserts, “Peter Obi has proven over time that he is not dependable. Often, his actions do not align with his words or promises.” This statement is said to underscore a narrative of inconsistency, particularly as Obi navigates Nigeria’s complex political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
