Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy has reacted after former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo accused members of the National Assembly of taking $200,000 bribe.
According to The Sun, Olusegun Obasanjo, while speaking during an interactive session with Nigerian lawmaker, Ikenga Ugochinyere stated that lawamkers were bribed to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of emergency rule in Rivers state.
The former President was quoted as saying that;
“I heard it from the horse’s mouth. You can deny it, that is alright, but I heard it from those who got it and told me that they got it. If you didn’t get it, then maybe your case is different. Don’t tell me what I know. Most of your members who got it told me that they got it”.
However, Bayo Onanuga has now reacted to the statement that was made by the former President. In a post that he shared on his official X handle on Tuesday, he said the former President was the person who introduced bribery.
Here is what Bayo Onanuga wrote on his official X handle;
“Former President Obasanjo, who yesterday recklessly accused the distinguished and honourable members of the National Assembly of bribe-taking to pass the Rivers state of emergency declaration, was the man who introduced bribery into our Fourth Republic”.
