Edward Onoja, the former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, has disagreed with former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his remarks on insecurity in Nigeria.
Obi had earlier stated that if 100 Nigerians are killed in a weekend, it amounts to the country being at war. But speaking in an interview, Onoja dismissed Obi’s position, arguing that such figures do not mean Nigeria is at war.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV from 5:27, he stated that while killings have occurred, they are sporadic and not consistent enough to be classified as a war situation. He stressed that leaders should focus on solutions rather than exaggerating the country’s challenges.
“I disagree with him (Peter Obi). Nigeria is not at war. Nigeria cannot be at war. Even when these figures exist, you won’t say that Nigeria is at war because they are flashes. It’s not daily. In the last 3 months, were 100 Nigerians killed in one week? No. But these incidents have occurred. How do we deal with it? I think that should be the way forward. That should be the statement that should be coming out from the voices, that should be coming out from supposed leaders.” EXPLORE , FURTHER>>>
