Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, shared heartfelt words during the 60th birthday celebration of King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, the Amanyanabo of Grand Bonny Kingdom. In a video shared by SYMFONI TV from 6.38, Fubara, speaking to the people of Bonny, praised the king for his strength and kindness over the years.
In his speech, Fubara reflected on his own journey and the challenges he has faced. He admitted that some people accuse him of many things, but said he can only be true to himself. He described Bonny as his ancestral home and remembered a time when they fought for independence, though he now sees that they were not ready for it.
He used a simple example, saying, “They say independence is sweet, but the journey in garri drinking is the problem,” meaning that while freedom sounds nice, the struggles that come with it are tough.
Fubara encouraged the people to stay strong, even during hard times. “At times you need to lose to win,” he said. “For me and anyone who believes in me, I’ve never seen myself as losing anything.”
He reminded everyone that true loss only happens when people tie their self-worth to material things. “I know that in the end, our victory will come because we’re standing on a solid rock,” he added.
Fubara also prayed for the king’s reign to be remembered for good things and thanked God for guiding them through every challenge.
