Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known by his stage name Portable, has recounted his first experience with former governor and presidential candidate Peter Obi.
In a video captured online, the street singer said he only received a handshake when he met the politician. According to him, he was flying first class while Peter Obi was flying economy.
In what seems like a shot at him, Portable stated that if he had met with the President, he would have gifted him bundles of cash.
“The day I saw Peter Obi, all I got was a handshake. I was flying first class while he was in economy. If it was Tinubu, he would have gifted me bundles”.
Kemi Filani reported last year that Portable had expressed disappointment after meeting with the 2023 Labor Party presidential candidate in Benin City, Edo State. In a clip from the meetup, Portable had lamented bitterly over how the former governor didn’t give him any money. Comparing him to the current President Tinubu, he stated that the President would have given him money if he had the opportunity of meeting him.
Since his rise to fame, Portable has had the opportunity to meet with several dignitaries and influential personalities.
In 2022, Portable met with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and couldn’t hide his excitement. The singer was able to win the admiration of the monarch, who was so impressed with him that he gave him bundles of nairas, and said he would have given him more if he had been informed of his visit.
Also, in 2022, Portable paid a courtesy visit to the legendary Fuji musician Kollington Ayinla and shared a video of him prostrating before the singer. The controversial singer visited him alongside his crew members.
Back in 2023, Portable visited the house of former NURTW chairman, MC Oluomo. Sharing clips from the visit on his Instagram page, MC Oluomo stated that he had the pleasure of hosting a surprise visit from the renowned hip-hop artiste at his home. He revealed that Portable’s insightful perspectives on the event and his music left him feeling inspired.
