Ahmed Sajoh, spokesperson to former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi, has strongly refuted claims suggesting his principal maintained lukewarm relations with President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 election campaign.
Speaking in a recent interview with Trust TV, Sajoh dismissed allegations that Fayemi showed insufficient support for Tinubu’s presidential bid. “It’s not true,” Sajoh stated emphatically when questioned about the alleged strained relationship.
He emphasized Fayemi’s continued loyalty to Tinubu even after the elections concluded. “Don’t forget that even after Tinubu won the elections, Fayemi was one of those people that organized the trips that he had abroad to link him up — even the Chatham House meeting — he was there, check the videos,” Sajoh explained.
The spokesperson also addressed tensions between Fayemi and former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, acknowledging the sharp tone in recent public statements.
When pressed about whether personal grievances motivated his criticism of Amaechi, Sajoh denied harboring personal vendettas. “It’s not a question of personal scores because it is wrong of Amaechi to have done what he did,” Sajoh declared. “It is wrong of him to say things that were not true.”
Sajoh accused Amaechi of making false statements while using Fayemi’s name to enhance his own public profile. “Even if he said them, he is saying what is not true and he is using the name of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi to shore up his own relevance in the public space — and that is wrong,” the spokesperson concluded.
