In a recent sermon titled “The Scripture-Based Impartiality of Brethren in Christ,” Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, addressed the misplaced value society places on physical beauty.
Preaching at a Bible study session, Kumuyi emphasized that God does not regard physical or natural beauty and that true worth is found in faith and righteousness.
Drawing from Deuteronomy 10:17, Pastor Kumuyi declared, “God does not regard the physical or natural beauty of anyone. Absalom was more handsome than anyone in the land, yet this did not move God; he died as a rebellious son and went to the other side.” This statement highlighted the biblical example of Absalom, whose striking appearance did not earn him favor with God due to his rebellious nature.
In a video to 1 hour 30 minutes, Pastor Kumuyi elaborated on the futility of relying on outward appearance for divine favor. “Whatever we have, or however we look in the natural, it does not make God honor us if we are not born again, if we don’t have faith or righteousness,” he said.
This message served as a reminder that inner spiritual qualities far outweigh external physical attributes in the eyes of God.
Referencing Acts 10:34, Kumuyi reinforced the idea that “God is no respecter of persons.” He explained that God’s impartiality means He does not value one person over another based on their physical appearance. “If we are truly children of God, we will live like He lived and apply the standard of the Bible in a uniform way. What God says, He does,” Kumuyi noted.
He further admonished believers and ministers of the gospel to reject societal norms that place undue emphasis on physical beauty. “As ministers of the gospel and children of God, we are no respecter of persons; we don’t take bribes, or do things unscriptural for people. It will take salvation and sanctification to be able to do all these. May we all have the grace to so live.”….Sée Móre
