In a recent video on YouTube, at a heartfelt service in Bishop David Abioye’s church, Major General Musa Christopher shared a personal testimony that highlighted the power of spiritual mentorship and unwavering support during critical moments of his military career. Accompanied by his wife and family, Christopher expressed deep gratitude to both Bishop Abioye and his wife, acknowledging their profound influence on his journey.

He spoke of a lesson he learned from the bishop: the importance of unity and partnership in marriage, noting how Bishop Abioye always ensured his wife was by his side during significant moments. Christopher mirrored this value by inviting his own wife to share the moment with him at the altar, calling it a privilege and an honor.

Reflecting on his time as a military commander in Maiduguri during the fight against Boko Haram, Christopher recalled being astonished by the bishop’s consistent communication and prayers. Though they had never met personally at the time, Bishop Abioye reached out regularly, offering spiritual support that Christopher believes made a tangible difference in his life and mission.

This divine connection, he emphasized, was a testament to the active presence of God in the lives of believers. Christopher pointed out that it is often not God who fails His people, but the people themselves who allow doubt to hinder their progress.

According to him, “Wow. Daddy and mommy, you have just made a difference as you have always made. Want to say a very big thank you. But before I go further, please I’ve learned one thing from daddy. Wherever he is, mommy will always be there. Whenever I visited, he will always ask, “Where is your wife?” Please me to invite her here. I feel very very honored and privileged to be here today. Myself, my wife, and my family. It has been a long time since I’ve known daddy. But he never knew me then. But I didn’t know how he was able to know me.”

“When I was in Maiduguri as a commander fighting Boko Haram, he kept calling me and I was wondering how he got my number, how he knew I was there. But he never ever relented. And his prayers have continued to make the difference in our lives. And that is to tell you that we serve a living God who will never ever let us down. Sometimes we are the ones that actually make things not possible for us because we doubt ourselves. We doubt our God. I grew up in the church.”
