A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Arc Uche Rochas, has stirred political conversations with a bold claim about the influence and political weight of former Lagos State governor and current president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a post shared on his official X account on Wednesday, July 22, 2025, Rochas dismissed the political capacity of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stating that even in large numbers, Obi could not rival Tinubu.

“Even a thousand Peter Obi’s combined cannot challenge BAT in any contest, whether free and fair or not,” he wrote, referring to the president by his initials.

Rochas went further to question Obi’s independent political relevance, suggesting that the former Anambra State governor owed much of his national prominence to his former ally and PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

“Without Atiku, there is no Peter Obi,” he added, implying that Obi’s rise on the national stage began during his time as Atiku’s running mate in the 2019 general election.
