Henry Idahagbon, former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Edo State, has revealed a surprising contradiction to the claim by governors that they cannot afford to pay the proposed minimum wage of N62,000. In an interview with Arise TV, Idahagbon disclosed that a governor has already taken the lead by promising and paying N70,000 as the minimum wage in May, debunking the notion that states cannot afford to pay.
Idahagbon raised questions about the sincerity of other governors’ claims and highlighted the possibility of a more sinister agenda at play. He argued that it is not possible for governors to say they cannot afford the N62,000 proposed by the federal government.
According to him, “I wouldn’t know what has transpired between Mr. President and my boss, Sen. Adams Oshiomhole, but I’m sure he’s one of the Tinubu men, so I’m sure they meet and they have conversations from time to time. I want to believe that behind the scenes, he may be an unofficial adviser, but coming back to the issue of governors saying they can’t pay N52,000. A governor already promised N70,000 and has paid his first month in the month of May.”….Sée Móre
