The Secretary General of Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Bargouti has alleged that the outcome of the United States election was anticipated, particularly the defeat of Kamala Harris. He attributed this to the Biden administration’s failure to take action to stop the “genocide in Gaza,” which Bargouti believes was a significant factor in the election results.
He argued that the Biden administration’s policy towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which allowed the Netanyahu government to commit what Bargouti describes as “genocide” in Gaza, directly contributed to the administration’s electoral losses. He asserted that the administration’s complicity in the events unfolding in Gaza alienated voters who were supportive of the Palestinian cause and of ending the ongoing conflict.
He said in an interview with Al Jazeera from 1:29, ‘What we expected in the US election is what happened. Kamala Harris lost the election because they didn’t stop the genocide in Gaza. We did anticipate that defeat because of that policy that allowed Netanyahu to commit genocide and actually became complicit within the genocide that was happening in Gaza. They could have lost the votes of people who are supportive of Palestine and supportive of ending the war. And I think this was one of the reasons why they lost the elections in many places.”
