Hon. Robinson Ewoh, chairman of the Governing Council at Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, has addressed the issue of whether Rivers State lawmakers, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Ewoh, the 27 lawmakers, including Amaewhule, publicly defected to the APC on the floor of the House of Assembly.

In a live coverage by Symfoni TV from 4:32, Ewoh said while speaking about the issue of the 27 lawmakers’ defection, President Tinubu said his party, APC, had gotten “new children and it should no longer be an issue for negotiation”

Ewoh also said the lawmakers filed affidavits in an Abuja High Court affirming their APC membership. He also mentioned that Tony Okocha, then acting as the APC chairman, welcomed the 27 lawmakers into the APC in a gathering at the Polo Club.

In Ewoh’s words: “When President Tinubu mediated on Rivers State matter, Tinubu said they (APC) have have gotten new children, that it should no longer be an issue for negotiation. They equally swore affidavit in an Abuja High Court to protect their seats. I think Abdulmalik lives in the heaven not in Nigeria. Every Nigerian know that Martin and co defected”
