In a video posted on Symfoni TV from 8:20, the chairman, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo accused the previous governor, Nyesom Wike, of misappropriating the state’s resources under the pretext of funding the Ring Road project.
He claimed that Wike’s administration awarded contracts for the Ring Road, but the execution of the project has been marred by inefficiency and waste, causing suffering among the people.
Ihunwo called on the current governor to establish an investigative panel to scrutinize the former governor’s tenure and probe into allegations of embezzlement and corruption.
He alleged that Wike had siphoned off significant amounts of public funds that rightfully belonged to the people of Rivers State.
This statement emphasizes Ihunwo’s concerns about the alleged misuse of power and resources during Wike’s administration and highlights his support for transparency and accountability in governance.
According to Chijioke Ihunwo, “Now, the Ring Road being awarded by the previous administration (Wike), the former governor looted Rivers’ resources under the guise of ring road contracts. Go and see what is happening there; people are suffering. I want to appeal to the governor to set up a probe panel to investigate the activities of the former governor during his term in Rivers State. He made away with a lot of money that belongs to our people.”
