Superintendent of Police Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer for Delta State, recently discussed a serious incident that has resulted in a significant legal situation involving a 17-year-old boy.

Taking to his X page, Edafe said the incident began when the young boy sought to avenge his mother, who had asked him to forgive a man she had issues with. In a misguided attempt to address his mother’s grievances, the 17-year-old confronted the elderly man in a secluded area and attacked him with a machete. The assault was brutal and resulted in the man’s death due to severe bleeding.

Edafe highlighted the remorse and burden faced by the boy, who, despite his mother’s pleas for compassion, chose to carry out the revenge. As a consequence, the boy now finds himself entangled in a murder case that could profoundly impact his life and future.

In his post, Superintendent Edafe expressed pity for the young accused, conveying the deep societal issues at play that lead young individuals to make such devastating choices. He emphasized the need to understand the emotional turmoil that can drive a person to commit acts of violence, especially in response to familial influences.

On his Verified X page, bright said, “The last video, we had four suspect, these are the other two suspects. One of them 17years, while trying to revenge for his mum as he claims, attacked an old man in the bush with a machete and the man bled to death. He said the mum begged him to forgive the man, he refused, now murder case is hanging on the head of a 17year old. For the first time, I actually felt pity for him and pray. God helps him.”
