Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, reflected on the leadership approach during his tenure as a council chairman, noting the boldness with which he and his colleagues would openly challenge the government. Wike emphasized that they held the state government accountable and demonstrated their work publicly, actions he believes left a lasting impression.

He stated that this era of active governance remains memorable to the people, who continue to recognize the results achieved during that time. Wike’s comments highlight his belief in assertive leadership and accountability as key to impactful governance.

He said in a live coverage by Symfoni from 2:47, “It is not easy for you to say a council chairman to come in the public to say, ‘Sir, challenge me, come.’ That was what was happening in our own days. We challenged the government, we challenged the state government, and people saw what we did. Up to today, people saw what we did.”
