The Apex Igbo socio cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has reacted after a member of the House of Representatives representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency, Alex Mascot Ikwechegh was arrested by the police for assaulting a cab driver.
Ohanaeze reacted in a report that was published by DAILY POST on Tuesday.
The reaction is coming after Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Abuja Command, confirmed that Alex Mascot Ikwechegh has been arrested and currently undergoing questioning.
In a statement that surfaced online, Ohanaeze Ndigbo stated that the assault on the cab driver reflects not merely a personal failing but a broader societal issue that must be addressed with the utmost seriousness.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo was quoted as saying that;
“It is vital to emphasize that the actions of Rep Ikwechegh stand in stark contrast to the cherished norms and values that define us as a people. As Igbo, we are driven by principles of respect, communal harmony, and the protection of the vulnerable. The reported assault on Mr. Abuwatseya reflects not merely a personal failing but a broader societal issue that must be addressed with the utmost seriousness”.
