Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has attributed the idea behind the beautification of Abuja’s city gates to Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, saying her suggestion inspired the initiative.

Wike said the suggestion made him appreciate the importance of giving Abuja a more welcoming appearance. He noted that while infrastructure such as roads remains a priority, the visual outlook of the city is equally important because it shapes the perception of residents and visitors alike.
The minister added that the beautification of the city gates was not his administration’s original idea but one inspired by the First Lady’s recommendation.
