Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has strongly criticized Western nations for what he sees as their inconsistent approach to human rights, particularly regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict. His comments come amid ongoing violence in Gaza that has resulted in significant casualties.
“The West has shown that during these many centuries when they have spoken of human rights, they have only been lying,” Khamenei declared. “They have proven this. Israel has killed ten thousand and the West hasn’t even raised its eyebrow at this.”
Khamenei argues that Western countries are practicing double standards by failing to hold Israel accountable while being quick to condemn human rights violations in other parts of the world. This selective approach to human rights enforcement, he suggests, reveals the true nature of Western nations’ commitment to these principles.
Iran’s position as a longtime supporter of Palestinian resistance has shaped its criticism of both Israeli policies and Western responses. The country has consistently maintained that Western powers deliberately overlook Palestinian suffering while claiming to champion human rights globally.
