A distinguished academic from the University of Port Harcourt has voiced concerns over Rivers State’s shifting public image, noting a transformation from a development-focused narrative to one dominated by political upheaval.

During a recent Channels TV interview FROM 3:06, Dr. Gift Worlu, a senior lecturer at the institution, reflected on the changing dynamics of Rivers State’s public perception under the current administration.

“Before Governor Fubara, what people knew about River State was the flag-off of projects, the commissioning of projects. It was on this basis that Sim Fubara became governor,” Worlu stated, highlighting the development-centric reputation that previously defined the state.

However, the academic pointed to a significant shift in recent months. “But now, all that has been heard is crisis. It’s either in the Assembly, the local government, or court battles,” he observed.
