Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President and former governor of Akwa Ibom State, recently reflected on his achievement of breaking the Guinness World Record for assembling the largest choral group in the world during his tenure as governor.

This event took place on December 13, 2014, when over 25,000 singers came together at the Uyo Township Stadium to perform Christmas carols.

In a live coverage by Symfoni TV from 0:47, Akpabio said that the celebration was not just about setting a record but was a way to honor God. He also said that some people questioned why he celebrated God so openly and he responded by saying that without God he would not be alive.

In Akpabio’s words: “When I was a governor, I broke the Guiness World Record for assembling the largest choral group in the world to sing praises to God on Christmas day. People asked me why were you celebrating God so much and I told them, if not for God I will not be alive even today”.
