A Former PDP National Chairman and a current BOT Member of the PDP, Chief Bode George has expressed his reluctance to serve under the PDP Reconcilation and Disciplinary Committee Chairman, Tom Ikimi. He emphasized that as a dedicated member of the PDP since 1999, he is a senior to Ikimi in the hierarchy of the party.
He further argued that the party’s internal conflicts and group divisions need to be addressed before he can consider taking on any role. He identified that the the chairman and secretary of the reconcilation committee are from the same faction in the party. He perceived this as a setup that would undermine his autonomy to speak on the issues in the party.
He said in an interview with Arise TV From 5:07, ”Everything in Lagos they say it’s Chief Bode George and yes I agree. I have been in the party since 1999, the founding fathers handed over this party to us. I was the first elected National Vice Chairman in the South West in PDP. You want me to serve under Tom Ikimi, when did Ikimi join the party? When I asked them, they started making excuses.
I’m almost at the eight floor of life and why I’m going to be running to Abuja and wasting my time. I said to them that I can’t serve under him because we all know when joined the party. We know the various groups that are dividing the party. And that is what the party should sit down first and resolve. The Chairman of that committee is from one group and the Secretary of that committee is from the same group. I’m just expected to go there and sit down looking like some undecided animal. No, I can’t do that.”
