According to the report from the Sun, the former Chief Press Secretary to Governor Godwin Obaseki, John Mayaki criticized Monday Okpebholo’s approach to politics, alleging that Okpebholo prioritizes personal gain and exclusive benefits for a select group of stakeholders over the greater good of the state.

Mayaki argued that Okpebholo fails to engage in substantive discussions about critical issues such as policy development, investment attraction, and sectoral reforms.

He further asserted that Okpebholo lacks the charisma and vision necessary to inspire confidence and hope for the future, both in his speeches and personal demeanor.

Mayaki described Okpebholo as ineffective in meetings, easily overshadowed, and unable to make meaningful contributions to deliberations.

He suggested that Okpebholo’s inadequacies are being exploited by certain political figures seeking to seize control of the Edo state and regain access to its financial resources.

According to John Mayaki, “He (Monday Okpebholo) has instincts only for politics, unfortunately the retrogressive kind in which some so-called ‘stakeholders’ are assembled and promised exclusive benefits, which will come at the expense of the state, in exchange for their support. He never engages in discussions about important things such as policies, investment attraction and multiplication, and sectoral reforms and upgrade. Even worse is the fact that he is unable to inspire confidence and hope for the future, either in speech or appearance.

During meetings, he is easily subdued and browbeaten into silence. He is unable to set the stage intellectually or offer any meaningful contribution. The leadership of the party can bear witness to this and that he rarely contributes to deliberations and even if, they are too pedestrian. It is very clear that he is merely a tool used and marketed by a few political overlords to seize control of the state and regain access to the treasury.”….VìêwMorê
