Juma told Brekete Family that she first heard about the attack through a neighbour who called her phone and begged her to come outside and see what the vigilantes were doing to her son. She said she ran out immediately and saw people dragging Douglas, who was already weak and struggling to speak.

In the video from 10:16, She explained that when she asked her son what was happening, he told her that the vigilantes had shone a bright touch light into his eyes and he had only questioned them about it, which led to the beating.

Juma said Douglas kept begging her for water, saying he was going to die, and that she reminded him of how his father had died just the previous year and told him that she could not lose him too.

Juma said: “My neighbour called and said, ‘Mama, come outside and see what they are doing to your child.’ I ran out and saw them dragging him. When I asked him what happened, he said, ‘Mummy, you saw the kind of touch they shined inside my eye, that is why I talked.’ He started saying, ‘Mummy, give me water, I want to die, I want to die.’ I told him, ‘Your father died yesterday, you want to die today again?’ as I was running up and down looking for help.”….Read_More…
