During a recent interview on Arise News from 7:45, Biodun Ajiboye, an APC chieftain and the Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, passionately defended his position against street protests in Nigeria. Ajiboye’s comments were directed at journalist Charles Aniagolu, whom he challenged on the effectiveness and outcomes of such demonstrations.

“If you say that government is extravagant, that is your point. That’s your issue, so the solution to the extravagance of government is to be on the street destroying public infrastructures?” Ajiboye questioned. He further emphasized his personal experience with protests in Nigeria, contrasting it with Aniagolu’s perspective. “I live in Nigeria, you live in London. I know what protests are. If anybody tells you he wants to protest in Nigeria, there’s no way. Tell me how many protests you’ve seen that haven’t led to public destruction?” he asserted.

Ajiboye’s remarks followed Aniagolu’s suggestion that the chieftain was making an unfounded allegation against protesters.
