Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), has criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the worsening security situation in the country, despite repeated claims by the government and security agencies that insurgents are being eliminated.

Speaking during an interview from 4:15 on SYMFONI TV, Baba-Ahmed said the rising number of attacks and victims across different parts of the country contradicts official statements celebrating victories against terrorists and criminal groups.

The former presidential aide questioned the effectiveness of the government’s security strategy, arguing that Nigerians continue to suffer daily attacks from insurgents, bandits and other armed groups. According to him, the reality on the ground shows that insecurity remains a major challenge despite assurances from authorities.

“They will tell you everyday they have killed 20 insurgents, 20 ISWAP, but the number of people who are victims on daily basis is increasing,” Baba-Ahmed stated during the interview.

He said the government must move beyond public relations and provide practical solutions that will guarantee the safety of citizens. Baba-Ahmed added that many communities across the country still live in fear due to frequent attacks, kidnappings and killings.
