The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ben Igweh has supported the FCT Minister’s stance that no protest should be held in the Federal Capital Territory. He questioned the rationale behind protesting in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), asserting that the FCT government has been performing commendably. He highlighted the recent improvements, such as new roads in areas like Maitama and Asokoro, as evidence of the government’s positive actions.

He emphasized that the noticeable progress since he assumed office negates any justification for protests against the FCT administration. He acknowledged the right of citizens to protest but urged that any demonstrations should remain peaceful. He expressed concern about the participation of miscreants in past protests and assured that, despite provocations, the authorities have not resorted to lethal force.

He said in an interview with Arise TV from 5:38,”Why will you protest in the FCT when you know the FCT government is doing well? And we have not done anything wrong to say that the government in FCT is not doing well. The difference is very clear since we resume few months ago. From the day I resume, we have seen new roads in Maitama, Asokoro and in everywhere. You cannot talk of bad government when you are seeing the difference that has occured in the past few months.

If it is compulsory that you must protest, then don’t make it violent. You can protest as normal citizens but a lot of miscreants have been protesting and we have not killed anybody. People that are disgruntled have the right to protest but ensure that it doesn’t get violent. Because when you make any attempt to make it violent, we will ready. We will come out violently if you protest violently because nobody have monopoly of violence. If they go into the street and start damaging vehicles, we will resist them. The last time they entered people’s shops and started looting people’s things and somebody will like us to keep quiet.”….Sêe_Morē
