Former Edo State governor and senator, Adams Oshiomhole has criticised Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni over comments made during a discussion on xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.

Speaking during an interview from 16:12 on Channels Television, Oshiomhole accused Rufai of spreading false information and misunderstanding issues relating to insecurity in Northern Nigeria.

According to him, Rufai wrongly suggested that businesses owned by wealthy individuals in Northern Nigeria should be nationalised because of the killings linked to banditry and terrorism in the region. Oshiomhole argued that the issue of insecurity should not be turned into a regional matter, adding that Nigerians across different parts of the country are affected by violence.

The former labour leader explained that individuals who have been convicted of supporting terrorism in the North have already had their properties seized by the Federal Government through legal processes. He said this action goes beyond nationalisation because the assets are forfeited after conviction.

Oshiomhole maintained that Rufai misunderstood his earlier comments during their debate and accused the television host of twisting facts. He insisted that his position was based on existing legal actions taken against those found guilty of aiding terrorism.
