Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami, has called on the Nigerian military to acquire advanced technology vehicles capable of detecting threats from 20 to 30 kilometers away.
Speaking in an interview from 37:50 with Daily Trust, Pantami said, “The military need world-class vehicles with world-class facilities, so that they do not need to physically cover distances. Vehicles that can make them see what is ahead of them at 20 to 30 kilometers away so that they can prepare for any danger that may arise.”
When asked why he did not deploy similar technology during his time as minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari, Pantami said his role did not cover security implementation. “As a minister, I was in charge of the digital economy sector. Any security issue was only advisory, it was not within my power to implement,” he explained.
