In a recent political interview from 12:19, Mojeed Jamiu, Executive Editor of Upshot Media, spoke on electoral dynamics in Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election and the comparative influence of leading political figures in the region.
During the interview, Jamiu stated, “Atiku Abubakar will galvanize the votes of the North more than Kwankwaso.” He made the remark while analysing voting patterns, regional loyalty, and the strength of political mobilisation across Northern Nigeria.
He referenced Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Kwankwaso, noting that both politicians remain highly influential figures within the Northern political landscape, each commanding significant followership.
Jamiu explained that Atiku’s long-standing presence in national politics and repeated presidential bids have helped him build deep-rooted political networks across several Northern states, giving him a broad-based appeal.

According to him, while both figures are major political forces in the North, Atiku’s reach across different segments of the region gives him an advantage in terms of wider vote mobilisation in a presidential contest.
Jamiu further stated that electoral dynamics in Northern Nigeria are shaped by a combination of historical loyalty, party structures, and the personal influence of key political actors who have remained active over multiple election cycles.
He added that as the 2027 elections approach, both Atiku and Kwankwaso are expected to remain central to discussions around opposition strategy, coalition-building, and regional vote consolidation.
Jamiu concluded by stressing that the outcome of Northern votes will play a critical role in determining the overall direction of the 2027 presidential election, making the influence of leading political figures in the region particularly significant….Read_More…
