General Lucky Irabor (rtd), former Chief of Defence Staff, has stated that in 1983 he travelled from Kaduna to Agbor town, Delta State to write his JAMB examination.
In an interview from 26:25 with NTA, General Irabor said he began his journey from Kaduna around 2 p.m. and arrived in Okene, Kogi State at about 8 p.m. He said he and other passengers in the vehicle were advised not to travel along the Okene-Okpella road at night because of armed robbers who operated there.
General Irabor said he went to a police station in Okene and slept on a bench there until morning. He said by 5:30 a.m. the next day, he boarded another bus and continued his journey to Agbor.
