In a recent interview from 4:23 on Symfoni TV, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu spoke extensively about the ongoing tension surrounding the imprisonment of Nnamdi Kanu, urging Nigerians to adopt a more thoughtful and peaceful approach to resolving the matter. He expressed concern over the hardship that prolonged unrest has caused in many southeast communities, noting that economic activity has declined and families continue to struggle.
According to Kanu, “I want the Federal Government and everybody to think about how they can resolve the matter,” stressing that resolving the issue requires sincerity from all sides. He said that finding common ground is the only realistic path toward restoring stability in the region.
Kalu also reflected on the position of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, explaining that even Ojukwu believed another conflict was unnecessary and that peace should guide the decisions of those who care about the future of the southeast. According to Kalu, the people must focus on rebuilding their economy, reopening affected areas, and reducing unnecessary tension.
Responding to accusations linking him to violent groups, Kalu described the claims as unfounded and urged critics to focus on facts rather than speculation. He reminded viewers that his tenure as governor was marked by security cooperation with federal agencies, not the sponsorship of unrest.
Kalu concluded by calling on political leaders, community figures, and citizens to work collectively toward peace, arguing that national progress depends on unity and responsible engagement. He maintained that Nigeria can only move forward when sensitive issues are handled with wisdom, patience, and respect for all parties involved. View, More,
