Public affairs analyst Habib Aruna has expressed disappointment over what he described as the lack of cohesion among Nigeria’s opposition leaders following the Ibadan opposition summit.

Aruna made the remarks during an interview from 5:59 on News Central TV while assessing the outcome of the gathering, which had initially raised expectations of a united front against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The summit was seen as a potential turning point for opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, to consolidate efforts under platforms such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or align with broader coalition movements like the proposed NDC.

Reflecting on the developments, Aruna said, “I was thinking that they were battle ready for a fight against President Tinubu and to sustain our democracy. But days after, it became very glaring that these guys were just full of themselves.” His comments point to what he perceives as a disconnect between the expectations of Nigerians and the actions of opposition leaders.
