Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District has strongly condemned the killing of a suspect, Mene Ogidi, by a police officer in Delta State, describing the act as shocking and inhumane.

The lawmaker made the remarks during an interview from 11:08 on Channels Television, where he reacted to the incident involving ASP Nuhu Usman, which has triggered widespread outrage and renewed scrutiny of police conduct in Nigeria.

Speaking on the circumstances surrounding the killing, Dafinone referenced the viral video of the incident, stressing that the officer’s actions were indefensible. “The murdering officer was clearly possessed to shoot a man who is restrained in broad daylight? You can only be deranged to do that,” he said, expressing disbelief over the conduct captured in the footage.

The incident, which occurred in Delta State, has sparked public anger, with many Nigerians demanding justice for the deceased and accountability from the authorities. The video, widely circulated on social media, appears to show the suspect restrained before being shot, raising serious concerns about the use of force by security personnel.
