Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, has expressed concern over the military’s disregard for civilian authority, stating that this attitude is contributing to Nigeria’s worsening security crisis. He said the armed forces often show contempt for elected officials, which undermines efforts to restore order, as reported by THE CABLE on Thursday November 27 2025.

Speaking during a Senate plenary session, Fadahunsi, a retired customs officer, emphasized the urgent need for President Bola Tinubu to restructure the military command system.

He stressed that those in leadership must possess the authority to issue directives and ensure they are followed without resistance.

He noted that despite the president’s consistent support and investment in the armed forces, the military has failed to deliver meaningful results.

Fadahunsi warned that the growing disrespect for civilian leadership is creating a dangerous divide, weakening the chain of command and obstructing national security efforts.

Fadahunsi stated,

“Do you know what the soldiers call us? They call us bloody civilians. They don’t regard us and that is what is affecting us on ground there now.” View, More,
