According to a report by the Punch News on November 27, 2025, an eyewitness who was at the scene where unknown gunmen attacked the convoy of Chris Ngige, a former governor, along the Nkpor–Nnobi Road in the Idemili North Local Government Area, has revealed that a shop owner who went to find out what was happening at the scene of the incident was shot, but he only lost a lot of blood.
The eyewitness said a shop owner who went to check what was happening was shot and lost a lot of blood but is expected to recover after surgery to remove the bullets. The pilot car was also hit with bullets.
The eyewitness clarified that no police officer was killed. The injured escort leader is expected to recover after surgery, and the shop owner was fortunate, as the bullets didn’t damage his spine.
