In the early hours of Wednesday, troops of the Joint Task Force under Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled a large-scale, five-pronged assault by heavily armed Boko Haram terrorists on their positions in Mallam Fatori, Borno State.
According to a report by Arise TV from 1:08, the insurgents advanced on foot while deploying armed drones, targeting the 68th Battalion — specifically its Bravo Company location. Troops, who were already on high alert, engaged the attackers immediately. The defence was further strengthened by precision air strikes from the air component of Operation Hadin Kai, backed by allied air assets from neighbouring Niger.
The operation resulted in the elimination of three senior Boko Haram commanders — Malam Abdul Rahman Gubara, Malam Ba Yuram, and Abu Auba — along with several other fighters. Troops also uncovered a detailed roster of Boko Haram members left behind at the scene, which included a structured breakdown of monthly payments allocated to individual fighters, offering the military a significant intelligence windfall.
The military has described the outcome as a major blow to the terrorist command structure in the region.
