Temple Ahunanya, a former Nigerian soldier, has shared a chilling account of how he and fellow troops were ambushed by Boko Haram insurgents along Damboa Road in Borno State while heading for deployment.

Speaking during an interview from 28:22 on Lucky Udu Experience, Ahunanya revealed that the number of soldiers scheduled for deployment that day was unusually high, forcing some of them to travel in tipper trucks instead of the usual Hilux vehicles. He said he was among those inside a tipper when the attack occurred.

He explained that the insurgents had already positioned themselves and launched a surprise assault on the convoy, catching the soldiers off guard.

Ahunanya said the experience led him to an unexpected discovery about the level of protection offered by the tipper trucks. According to him, those inside the tippers survived the heavy gunfire, while many of the soldiers in Hilux vehicles lost their lives.
