In a recent interview aired on the Mic On Podcast from 0:23, Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarewaju, shared insights on Nigeria’s evolving political landscape and the prospects of a unified opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Olarewaju noted that the opposition’s strength lies in unity, particularly if key figures such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi could forge a strategic alliance. He emphasized that both leaders share similar ideologies and appeal across different regions, which could significantly boost their chances at the polls.
According to him, “The best bet would be to have the two of them on that ticket and give Nigerians a sense of co-presidency.” He explained that such a coalition would not only bridge regional divides but also provide Nigerians with a balanced leadership structure reflective of national inclusivity.
Olarewaju argued that the current political atmosphere demands collaboration rather than fragmentation among opposition parties. He added that a joint ticket between Atiku and Obi would inspire voter confidence and strengthen democratic participation across the country.
He concluded by saying that a well-coordinated partnership could serve as a powerful alternative to the ruling party, giving Nigerians renewed hope for effective governance and national unity. See, More, Here>>>
