Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has denied claims that he wanted to stay in office for a third term. Speaking in a video shared by Symfoni TV FROM 53:48, Obasanjo said he never told anyone he planned to extend his time as president.

According to him, some governors were behind the third-term talks. He explained that they believed if he stayed longer, they too could remain in power. However, Obasanjo said he never asked for support and never called anyone to push the idea.

He also pointed out that during his time in office, he worked hard to get debt relief for Nigeria. He said that task was more difficult than trying to get a third term. So, if he had truly wanted it, he believes he could have achieved it.

Here’s what Obasanjo stated,

“You believe that I wanted a third term, I think I am not a fool. If I wanted a third term I know how to go about it. And there is no Nigerian dead or alive that will say I called him and told him that I wanted a third term, none. And I keep telling them that look, if I wanted to get debt relief, which is more difficult than getting a third term and I got it, if I wanted a third term I would have gotten it” See, More, Here>>>>
