Edward Onoja, the former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, recently appeared on Seun Akinbaloye’s “Mic On Podcast” and offered a sharp critique of his political rival, Dino Melaye.

Speaking during the show, Onoja said, “You would say that he has predicted so many things,” Onoja began, before delivering a sharp punchline. “He predicted that he will be Governor of Kogi State. He argued that with Minister Wike. He didn’t even vote in his own election.”

This pointed statement refers to the highly publicized feud between Dino Melaye and Nyesom Wike, the then-Rivers State Governor, in the lead-up to the 2023 Kogi gubernatorial election. Wike had publicly expressed doubts about Melaye’s capacity to govern, which fueled a heated exchange between the two political figures.

Onoja’s comments serve as a powerful reminder of that political drama, while also highlighting the ultimate outcome of the election, which saw Melaye not only lose but also reportedly fail to cast his own vote.

This detail which has been widely discussed in political circles, is used by Onoja to show the disconnect between Melaye’s predictions and the realities of his political career.

By bringing up these past events, Onoja is effectivey painting a picture of Melaye as a politician whose words often fail to match his actions. See, More, Here>>>>

A narrative that could prove damaging as the state’s political players begin to strategize for future elections.
