Ulyanov criticised what he described as a long-standing US strategy of applying pressure during diplomatic engagements. He argued that attempts to force outcomes through threats or rigid demands have proven ineffective, particularly in dealings with Tehran. His remarks come at a time when efforts to revive dialogue between the two countries face persistent obstacles.

“The #US is accustomed to conduct negotiations from the position of strength, threatening to use military force or tighten #sanctions. It is obvious that this scheme doesn’t work with #Iran,” he wrote on X.

The Russian envoy stressed that continuing along the same path would likely stall any meaningful breakthroughs. He suggested that a shift in tone and method could create more room for constructive engagement, especially given the sensitivity of the issues involved and the history of strained relations between Washington and Tehran.
